Policy Regarding Prescriptions, Appointments, Phone Calls, and Requests to Fill Out Paperwork

Prescriptions:

  • Huntley Pain Specialists does not keep narcotic medications on premises.

  • Prescription refills are taken Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ONLY.

  • Prescription refills will not be taken or filled on Holidays, Saturday, Sunday, or after hours- under any circumstances. It is your responsibility to make sure you do not run out of medication.

  • Huntley Pain Specialists enforces a strict NO TOLERANCE POLICY against aggressive or abusive patient behavior that is directed at physicians, administrative or medical staff, or toward other patients. Patients who violate this policy will be immediately discharged from the practice.

  • Huntley Pain Specialists will not provide telephone consultations with patients. It is necessary for patients to come in for follow-up appointments so we can personally discuss test results, medications, and other matters relating to your care.

  • Appointments:

  • We understand that at times it is necessary to change or cancel an appointment; however without a minimum of 24 business hours notice, Huntley Pain Specialists is not able to fill the cancelled appointment time. We must charge patients $25 for office visits that are missed or cancelled less than 24 business hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time. Insurance Companies do not cover these charges.

  • Huntley Pain Specialists strives to perform  procedures on patients as soon as possible. We consistently have several patients waiting for procedures. In-office and surgery center procedures require hours of staff time to schedule and coordinate, as well as the time of the physician, surgery center staff, insurance companies, etc. Patients who cancel a procedure without providing a minimum of 48 business hours notice to Huntley Pain Specialists from the scheduled procedure time or who miss a procedure will be charged $150. Insurance companies do not cover this charge.

  • Phone Calls:

We ask that you limit your phone calls to urgent needs only. We see a large volume of patients in our office each day and we believe that those patients are our priority. When you are evaluated and treated by a clinician at Huntley Pain Specialists you will have his or her complete attention. We cannot provide this one-on-one service and still attend to a large volume of patient phone calls. Patients should contact the office immediately if they have had a procedure or surgery recently and feel they may be experiencing a complication such as fever greater than 101 degrees, neck stiffness, drainage from a procedure or surgical site, or extremity weakness, numbness or tingling that is new or present for greater than 48 hours after a procedure. Other examples of appropriate patient phone calls are to reschedule or cancel an appointment, report side effects to new medications prescribed, or to report a new or changed medical condition, which could impact their treatment.

We do not return phone calls to discuss imaging or procedure results, to discuss the treatment plan or to request medication changes. If your procedure or medications are not working, if your pain status has changed, or if it has been greater than 6 months since your last visit with us then we request that you schedule a follow up visit.

Please remember that calling repeatedly during the day does not speed up a return call it simply slows down our ability to efficiently and effectively attend to all of our patients' needs.

Your cooperation in adhering to these phone call guidelines will improve the overall care we are able to provide to all of our patients. Our goal is to provide each of our patients with the best we have to offer in pain intervention therefore we have to establish patient guidelines that enable us to achieve this practice goal.
